About Us

Spring Lake Sports League

Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Spring Lake Sports League (SLSL) official web-site. SLSL has been providing our community's children access to organized baseball, softball, kickball, basketball and soccer programs for more than four decades. The following pages contain basic information on the various sports programs and are easily accessed by simply clicking on each sport's link above.

The cornerstone of SLSL is what we refer to as "House" league. Many times house league is a child's introduction to that sport, especially for the K-2nd graders. House league stresses fundamental skill development, learning the basic rules of the game, friendly competition and, above all - fun. House league play involves one weeknight practice and one weekend game per week; providing an ideal setting for kids to interact with their school mates outside the classroom environment and meet potential future classmates. Within one year of participating in a full cycle of basketball / baseball / soccer you, as a parent, will likely meet thirty new families and your children will be introduced to just as many new friends. SLSL is a great way to further integrate into the community.

Advanced players looking for a more intense, competitive experience are encouraged to try out for SLSL "Travel" programs - soccer, baseball, softball and basketball. However, unlike house, where anyone who registers is on a team, qualifying for travel league play requires a tryout and selection by the independent evaluators. Travel league also involves a greater time commitment - typically two practices per week, at least one game on the weekends and occasional weekend tournament participation.

To sign up for SLSL play is very easy. In 2009, SLSL went to a completely electronic registration process through Abooma Sports. There is typically a six week open enrollment period for each sport. Below is our general registration and league schedule:

Whenever a sport's registration window is open, simply click the appropriate sport above and you will find the Abooma link prominently displayed on that particular sport's home page.

The success of SLSL relies heavily upon the wonderful residents of this community who continue to graciously volunteer their time organizing the various leagues and coaching our children. Having been the primary sports outlet of this community for over forty years, SLSL's longevity is a true testament to the volunteer spirit that burns in all of us.

If you ever have an issue, please email me at Dave@slsl.net. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing your kids on the field and you coaching from the sidelines - you will be glad you did.
