Spring Lake Sports League
House League Coaches’ and Volunteers’ Code of Conduct
- I understand that the purpose of the Spring Lake Sports League house league is recreational and instructional.
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will treat my players fairly and with respect. I will use positive motivation rather than negative motivation.
- I will reward effort and team play over results and avoid singling out an individual for criticism in front of the team, or engage in practices such as emphasizing player statistics.
- I will equalize playing time as much as possible, consistent with the rules for the particular sport, encouraging all team members to participate in each practice and every game.
- I will not argue with the umpires, referees, any game officials, or opposing coaches. Nor will I make negative or taunting comments or use profanity directed toward the opposing team or game officials.
- I will not tolerate taunting or unsportsmanlike conduct by my team and its fans.
- I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.
- I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach and I will teach these rules to my players.
- I will obey all rules, regulations and directives of Spring Lake Sports League and I understand that violation of the Code of Conduct may lead to forfeit of and/or ejection from a game. Furthermore, serious or repeated violations may lead to suspension or loss of coaching privileges in Spring Lake Sports League.
