Philosophy and Objectives :
The Philosophy of the SLSL Travel Baseball Program is to develop a sound and healthy attitude toward sportsmanship, leadership and competition, to create and promote team spirit, to improve playing skills and physical conditioning.
It is the philosophy of the Travel Baseball Program that: "It is a PRIVILEGE to be able to participate in competitive travel baseball". Travel Baseball is different from House League Baseball. Equal playing time may not apply.
Teams :
2 teams (A & B) will be fielded at every age level (U9
thru U14) as player participation dictates. Encourage all to tryout.
All teams will compete in the North Shore Baseball League. North Shore Baseball mandates that age divisions U9-U11 players must be registered in their community baseball program (house league) association during the regular season.
Coach Selection :
All head coaches must submit an application (written notice) and will be approved by the SLSL Board.
Please mail the application to:

Commitment :
All players must attend 70% of House League games and practices to remain eligible. U13 & U14 age divisions are exempt from house league play.
Players cannot miss more than 8 consecutive days of the travel season (June 15th - August 8th ) to be A team eligible. Special arrangements may be made for players to play on the B team who may miss more than 8 consecutive days. If there is not a "B" team option, consideration may be given to play on the "A" team.
Players are expected to be on time for team meetings, practices or games.
It is not fair to you, your team, or those who did not make a team if you cannot meet these commitments.
Team Tryouts
The SLSL Travel Baseball Program realizes the importance of this event for players. Independent evaluators consisting of other SLSL coaches (cannot be related to a player trying out) and MVP staff will be allowed to rate the players. If head coaches are selected prior to tryouts, they will organize and run the tryout. They will not rate players. The program director will review the scores with the evaluators prior to team selection. Team selection is final.
All players must attend the entire tryout for the travel team (injury absence with a Doctor's note only).
When playing up an age division, the player must be rated as an "impact" player (top 5). Not a player to round out the roster.
Age divisions U9 — U12 all players must reside within District 103 boundaries.
Age divisions U13 — U14 a limit of 2 players may reside outside District 103 boundaries. If players are needed to fill roster spots (not enough District 103 participants) SLSL Board approval must be gained.
Code of Conduct
Players — Swearing will not be tolerated. Throwing helmets, bats or gloves will not be tolerated. Treat umpires, opposing coaches and players with respect. Wear uniforms and practice attire properly.
Fans — Zero tolerance for abuse to umpires, coaches, players or fans. Cheer for the entire team, not just one player.
