Spring Lake Sports League sponsors the Lincolnshire Lightning Soccer Club whose mission is to give young players the opportunity to develop their individual and team skills and gain an understanding of soccer through a well-rounded, competitive experience. This is done under the guidance of professional coaches who provide an enjoyable, yet challenging, environment that fosters confidence, self-esteem and a love of the game. The Lincolnshire Lightnings developmental program is a unique place for players to grow in a competitive, community soccer organization.

FAQ Sheet

Spring Lake Sports League sponsors the Lincolnshire Lightning Soccer Club, a competitive travel soccer program. Our mission is to provide the more competitive athlete the opportunity to develop their individual and team skills and broaden their understanding of soccer through a well-rounded, competitive experience. This is done under the guidance of tenured professional coaches who provide a fun, yet challenging, environment that fosters confidence, self-esteem and a love of the game. The Lincolnshire Lightning soccer program is a unique place for players to grow in a competitive, community-based soccer organization.

TIME COMMITMENT

  • Travel Soccer has both fall (late August to mid-November) and spring (April to June) seasons.
  • During the fall and spring seasons, there are two, 90-minute practices each week.
  • 10 games each season. Boys' games are typically Saturdays and girls' games are typically Sundays, but occasionally games may be scheduled on other days.
  • One weekend tournament during each season, typically Labor Day or Columbus Day in the fall, and Memorial Day in the spring. Participation in additional tournaments will be left up to individual teams and the DOC.
  • Additionally, we offer a winter season consisting of training and/or a league, which is strongly encouraged

LEAGUES

  • Boy's teams play in the YSSL (Young Sportsman Soccer League), www.yssl.org.
  • Girl's teams play in the IWSL (Illinois Women Soccer League), www.iwsl.com.

TRYOUTS

  • Players must tryout to be considered for a spot on a team, there is no fee for tryouts.
  • Travel soccer teams are determined by age, not by grade. Age groups are boys/girls U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, and U14, and girls U16. See the chart on the tryout page to determine your child's appropriate age group.
