LINCOLNSHIRE LIGHTNING SOCCER CLUB
Fall 2008/Spring 2009

Spring Lake Sports League sponsors the Lincolnshire Lightning Soccer Club whose mission is to give young players the opportunity to develop their individual and team skills and gain an understanding of soccer through a well-rounded, competitive experience.  This is done under the guidance of professional coaches who provide an enjoyable, yet challenging, environment that fosters confidence, self-esteem and a love of the game.  The Lincolnshire Lightning's developmental program is a unique place for players to grow in a competitive, community soccer organization.

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • All players are expected to play both fall (late August to mid-November) and spring (April to June) seasons.
  • Two, 90-minute practices each week.
  • 10 games each season.  Boys' games are typically Saturdays and girls' games are typically Sundays, but occasionally games may be scheduled on other days.
  • At least one weekend tournament during the year.  Participation in additional tournaments will be left up to individual teams and the DOC.
  • Optional winter training is also available and strongly encouraged.

HOUSE LEAGUE

  • Lincolnshire Lightning Soccer Club seeks to foster a synergistic relationship with SLSL house league to develop all players' skills.  This is highlighted by the fact that the DOC will oversee both programs, facilitating common training skills and techniques for all players.
  • Club players through the fifth grade are expected to participate in the fall house league.  Players in grades six through eight are encouraged to play in the house league.

COSTS

  • Estimated to be $1,150 for the full year, which covers coaching, league fees (which aren't announced until later in the spring), field expenses, administrative fees, a pre-season training camp, goalie clinics and participation in one tournament.
  • $110 uniform fee that covers a pair of shorts, two jerseys, and two pairs of socks.  Optional equipment backpack, warm-up suit and hooded jacket are available for an additional charge.  The Adidas style uniform will be available for several years.
  • Players provide their own cleats, shin guards, ball, water bottle and appropriate practice clothing.
  • Teams may choose to participate in indoor training or leagues and these will be at additional costs.

TRYOUTS

Lincolnshire Lightning Soccer Club plans on fielding girls' and boys' teams at the Under Age 8-14 levels with the objective of creating the most competitive teams that utilize the greatest number of players.  The Club will place kids in the best position to succeed.  The Club reserves the right to combine age groups or offer players the opportunity to play “up.”  No child will play “up” unless chosen to do so by the Club.  Please consult the chart below to determine your child's appropriate age group.
